Ragging is a Criminal Offence as per Karnataka Educational Act 1983 and Hon’ble SupremeCourt of India. Fortis Institute of Nursing, Bangalore, ensures strict compliance on the Prevention of Ragging in any form.

Definition: The word 'ragging' means the acts "causing, inducing, compelling or forcing a student, whether by way of a practical joke or otherwise, to do any act which detracts from human dignity or violates his person or exposes him to ridicule or forbear from doing any lawful act, by intimidating, wrongfully restraining, wrongfully confining, or injuring him or by using criminal force to him or by holding out to him any threat of such intimidation, wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement, injury or the use of criminal force." The term 'ragging' may include;display of noisy, disorderly conduct, teasing, excitement by rough or rude treatment or handling,indulging in rowdy, undisciplined activities which cause or likely to cause annoyance, undue hardship, physical or psychological harm or raise apprehension or fear in a fresher, or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such a student will not do in the ordinary course and which causes him/her shame or embarrassment or danger to his/her life.

Penalty for Ragging: Whoever directly or indirectly commits, participates in, abets or instigates ragging inside or outside the educational institution will be liable in addition to prosecution before the criminal courts, for rustication, dismissal and expulsion from the college. Any authority of the college can also suo moto recommend action to the Principal against any student/students indulging in ragging. Supreme Court of India has ordered that 'if any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel him/her from the institution;.

WARNING: No leniency will be shown to the offenders involved in ragging. All students are requested to note and co-operate in keeping our college and hostel campus free from ragging. Names of the officials with photograph and telephone numbers to be contacted in case of emergency and rules & regulations are printed in the Code of Conduct handbook given by the institution at the time of admission.

As per the statutory requirement candidate/parent has to submit the anti-ragging affidavit /undertaking at the time of admission.
